KBTG Unveils 2025 Strategy: Human-First x AI-First Transformation for Growth

November 26, 2024

KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) has set ambitious goals for 2025, focusing on a ‘Human-First x AI-First Transformation’ strategy. This initiative aims to blend advanced AI technologies with human talent to enhance company capabilities and make a significant contribution to Thai society. With an overarching vision titled ‘KBTG AI For Thailand,’ the company plans to generate over 10 billion Baht in business impact within the next five years. This transformative strategy reflects KBTG’s commitment to leveraging AI for societal benefit while maintaining a human-centric approach.

Achievements in AI Innovations and Developments

In 2024, KBTG reached numerous milestones in AI development and innovation, highlighting its commitment to cutting-edge technology. Among the notable advancements were research initiatives and innovations such as AINU, THaLLE, Future You, Koo Kid, AI-Enabled Video Analytics, and Document OCR. These achievements demonstrate KBTG’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of AI technology to bolster its business operations and service offerings. Additionally, the organization developed AthenaMind, a platform designed to create proprietary AI agents or models for internal use, further showcasing KBTG’s focus on pioneering technological solutions.

One of the standout innovations at KBTG is the deployment of the HR Chat Agent, an AI-powered assistant that provides KBTG employees with essential information about benefits including group insurance, expense accounts, provident funds, and leave policies. This AI agent not only streamlines employee access to critical information but also underscores the practical applications of AI within the organization. KBTG’s excellence in AI innovation was further validated by its distinction as the only Thai organization to win the Innovators 2024 award from Global Finance in the ‘Compliance/Risk Innovation: Best eKYC Innovation to Minimize Facial Fraud’ category. This accolade was a result of the company’s AI-powered face liveness detection technology, which is already in use within KASIKORNBANK (KBank) and is also commercially offered through AINU.

Strategic Collaborations and Global Recognition

KBTG has gone beyond internal innovations to establish strategic collaborations with both domestic and international entities, further propelling AI research and advancements. These partnerships include significant collaborations with the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT), AI Singapore, Google Research, MIT Media Lab, and AI Fund. Such collaborations not only broaden the scope of KBTG’s research but also foster knowledge-sharing and technological growth on a global scale.

The recognition of KBTG’s research efforts is apparent, with papers featured at prestigious venues such as the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2024), a renowned natural language processing (NLP) conference. In total, the organization has published 30 papers in international journals, including 2 in Rank A* journals and 5 in Rank A journals, solidifying KBTG’s position as a leader in AI research. Insights garnered from these research papers have been instrumental in developing innovative products and services, such as AI-powered data analytics, enhanced eKYC processes using computer vision, and real-time customer service facilitated by NLP-powered chatbots. These contributions highlight KBTG’s commitment to translating research into tangible benefits for both the company and society at large.

Anticipated AI Trends for 2025

Looking ahead to 2025, KBTG anticipates three central AI trends that will shape the future of the industry: AI for Human Intelligence, AI Agents, and AI Guardrails. These trends reflect KBTG’s forward-thinking approach and dedication to driving business impact through the integration of AI technologies.

AI for Human Intelligence emphasizes utilizing AI to assist in decision-making processes, thereby enhancing business impact. By leveraging AI’s analytical capabilities, KBTG aims to support human intelligence in making more informed and precise decisions. This trend underscores the synergy between human talent and AI technologies in achieving superior business outcomes.

The development of specialized AI models, or AI Agents, is another key trend. These AI agents are designed to perform comprehensive tasks and make precise decisions autonomously. This focus on specialized AI models aims to streamline operations and improve efficiency across various business functions. AI Guardrails, the third anticipated trend, involve measures to ensure the responsible use of AI. This includes extensive awareness and governance to mitigate risks while maintaining operational flexibility. By prioritizing ethical AI deployment, KBTG aims to build trust and reliability in their AI applications, ensuring they are used responsibly and effectively.

Agentic Platformization and Orchestration

Central to KBTG’s future strategy is the concept of Agentic AI, a model that functions autonomously and coordinates other AI systems to manage more complex tasks. The company plans to focus on creating new platforms to manage AI agents efficiently and facilitate seamless collaboration with humans. An example of this is the AthenaMind platform, designed to help develop AI agents for various applications within KBTG. Future plans for Agentic Platformization include AI agents for functions such as a PDPA Chat Agent and a Regulatory Chat Agent, which will further integrate AI into business processes.

Alongside platformization, Agentic Orchestration is another focus area. This involves formulating new workflows that enable AI agents and humans to work together efficiently to achieve business impact. One example is the initial implementation of an AI coding assistant in software development, which has significantly improved developer efficiency and reduced working time by at least 20 percent, with over 500,000 lines of code generated through AI. The next step entails evolving the AI coding assistant into an AI Coding Agent, which would function like a junior developer, capable of writing complete code based on specific requirements. This advancement aims to further reduce coding time and expedite the software development life cycle (SDLC), highlighting the practical benefits of AI integration.

Agentic Humanization and Employee Empowerment

KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) has outlined a visionary strategy titled ‘Human-First x AI-First Transformation’ to be realized by 2025. This ambitious plan aims to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies with human expertise to elevate company performance and positively impact Thai society. Central to this vision is ‘KBTG AI For Thailand,’ a bold initiative that anticipates delivering over 10 billion Baht in business value over the next five years.

The ‘Human-First x AI-First Transformation’ strategy underscores KBTG’s dual focus on advancing AI while prioritizing a human-centered approach. By combining AI’s analytical power with human creativity and decision-making skills, KBTG aims to drive innovation and efficiency while contributing meaningfully to the community.

KBTG’s commitment to this transformative endeavor highlights their belief in the symbiotic relationship between technology and human talent. Their goal is not just to enhance business operations but also to leverage AI as a force for societal benefit. Through this initiative, KBTG aspires to create a substantial economic impact, fostering progress and innovation in Thailand.

In summary, KBTG’s strategic vision for 2025 emphasizes a balanced integration of AI and human capabilities to generate significant business value and societal benefits, particularly in Thailand. This carefully planned strategy demonstrates KBTG’s dedication to being a leader in technological and social advancement.
